Snow Day | Artifact Motherhood

So an unexpected snow day and I get to have you all at home. It’s lovely to have an excuse to stop for a day and go back to basics. It almost feels like lockdown all over again, but just for one day. Let’s hope it is only one day though. And it’s quiet outside. The snow seems to bring quiet to the neighbourhood. Like a large blanket over the world absorbing all the sound. It’s not as quiet indoors though. At the moment you younger two are playing nicely together painting rocks and making a toy for the cat out of pipe cleaners, but this won’t last long, I know it. Soon there will be squabbles. And I’m not 100% sure the cat should eat pipe cleaners although I’m sure he’d give it a good go. The toy might have to disappear quietly into a cupboard a little later. The snowman built this morning has now lost his eyes and his glasses have fallen off, I think a bit of repair work might be needed. And how to explain where the snowman goes when he melts… all important subjects that need to be talked about. We’ve had the offer of a sledge so we’ll be collecting that from a friend and braving the nearby fields a little later. I’m looking forward to the excited faces and seeing how you react to this new experience. Another day to add to the memory bank of #childhood and one I’m so blessed to be present in.

This blog is part of Artifact Motherhood – a collaboration of artists / mothers from around the world. Sharing stories pf the joys and struggles of our journey. Our hopes and dreams for our children. With little nuggets of wisdom here and there. These are more than photographs with dates written on the back. These are the artefact we are leaving behind for our children and the generations to come.
