I’m Rose, a mother of 3 young children, wife to 1 VW obsessed husband and an award winning documentary family photographer in Bath, Bristol and beyond.
“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever…it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.”
This quote beautifully encapsulates how I feel about photography and it’s presence in my life. I have been using a camera as far back as I can remember – capturing memories and storing up boxes and boxes of prints under my bed to look back on every now and then and create blu tacked displays of my favourites on my wall. This has now graduated to digital imagery (thank goodness!) and fine art frames of all colours across my walls.
My work has been featured in Vogue Italia, won awards with the Family Photojournalist Association and my profile has been featured by RISE – the professional female photographers community. Highlights of my photography career to date also include mentorship by Gillian Devine (Photography Success Mentor) since June 2019 and Alice Chapman (UK’s Top Family Documentary Photographer of the Year 2017, 2018 & 2019).
As a mother and a photographer, my passion lies in capturing real moments, moments that mean something, pull on the heart strings and bring memories flooding back. I love to celebrate the individualities of a family, big emotions, the beautiful chaos of life with a small family and your perfectly imperfect every day. My photography sessions create a story of your life with your children at this moment in time, for you to hold close forever, long after they have moved onto the next stage in life, or even grown up and left home.
I believe that the most beautiful, real images are created the moment you forget I am there, which is why my sessions last 90 minutes or in the case of “Morning-in-the-Life”, 4 hours. This allows time for your family to relax into having me with you, for life to unfold in front of the camera and for me to capture the unplanned, beautiful, not-looking-at-the-camera kind of moments that mean the most when you look back on them in years to come.
If you would like to know anything further about how I work, or you would like to check my diary for a booking, feel free to get in touch for an informal chat, I would love to hear from you.
