Coombe Lodge Wedding Photographer
Refined Documentary Wedding Photography in Somerset
If you’re planning your wedding at Coombe Lodge, you’re likely drawn to its elegant architecture, peaceful setting, and sense of understated luxury. Nestled in the Somerset countryside overlooking Blagdon Lake, Coombe Lodge is a venue chosen by couples who value atmosphere, beauty, and a calm, considered wedding experience.
I’m Rose Dedman, a Somerset wedding photographer specialising in refined documentary wedding photography. I work with couples who want their wedding day captured naturally and honestly — without interruption, awkward posing, or forced moments — resulting in photographs that feel timeless, emotive, and deeply personaly.

Documentary Wedding Photography at Coombe Lodge
Coombe Lodge lends itself beautifully to a documentary approach to wedding photography. The venue’s generous sense of space, natural flow, and light-filled interiors allow moments to unfold organically, without the need for constant direction or staging.
My role is to observe carefully and anticipate what matters — fleeting expressions, meaningful interactions, and the subtle emotional rhythm of the day. Rather than pulling you away from your guests or orchestrating moments, I document your wedding as it naturally happens, preserving the atmosphere and feeling of the celebration as it truly was.
This approach is ideal for couples who want to be fully present on their wedding day, trusting that their story is being captured with care, sensitivity, and an editorial eye.
A Luxury Wedding Venue in Somerset
Set within the rolling landscape of the Chew Valley, Coombe Lodge is one of Somerset’s most elegant wedding venues. Designed in the early 20th century by architect Sir George Oatley, the manor house combines classic proportions with a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Large windows flood the interiors with natural light throughout the day, creating a soft, timeless backdrop for your wedding photographs. Neutral tones, original features, and thoughtfully restored spaces allow your styling, your guests, and your emotions to take centre stage.
Outside, the gardens and surrounding countryside offer breathtaking views across Blagdon Lake and the Mendip Hills. As the day slows and the light softens, these surroundings provide a beautiful setting for relaxed, unforced portraits — woven gently into your wedding day rather than staged or rushed.
A Calm, Unobtrusive Approach to Wedding Photography
Every wedding venue has its own rhythm, and my approach is to work intuitively within it. I take the time to understand your plans, priorities, and what matters most to you, ensuring the photography never feels intrusive or overwhelming.
My documentary style means:
- No awkward posing
- No constant direction
- No pressure to perform for the camera
Aside from a short, relaxed portrait session and a small number of group photographs if you wish, the rest of the day is documented quietly in the background. Most couples tell me they barely notice I’m there — yet their photographs reflect the full depth, emotion, and energy of the day.

Why Choose Rose Dedman Photography

My name is Rose Dedman, and wedding photography is my passion. I have photographed many weddings during my career.
Coombe Lodge is one of my favourite local venues. Beautiful architecture and large windows are key features of this stunning venue. With over 15 beautifully landscaped acres, you can have your ceremony inside or out.
I take a documentary-style approach to my wedding photography. This means no awkward posing and no pressure to get the “perfect shot”. Just you and your guests enjoying your wedding day. With a small handful of group shots taken after the wedding ceremony (if you choose to have them) and a short section of couple portraits (no awkward posing I promise), the rest of the day you will be able to relax and enjoy your celebrations with your family and friends, forgetting I am even there.
When I create your wedding gallery, it will be as unique as you are with natural, characterful, candid photographs full of genuine emotion and feeling, bursting with life and love.
Let’s talk about YOUR wedding
I’d love to hear all about your plans for your Coombe Lodge wedding – after all, your day is all about you. I want to know what is most important to you, your hopes, your dreams and the style of photography you are looking for. If you are a relaxed couple looking for characterful, artistic, emotive wedding photography, then let’s talk!
My aim is to deliver a range of stunning, artistic images that are as unique as you, bringing you back to how it felt to be there on the day, for generations to come.
As soon as you book your wedding venue, this is the time to get in touch, ask any questions you may have and check your date against my diary.
