Decorating the Christmas Tree

Who doesn’t enjoy decorating the Christmas tree? It’s that time of year again when the kids delight in a trip to the local Christmas tree farm, choosing the best looking tree that will fit in our living room (fighting over whose choice wins..) and cramming it into our car to get it home.

When we get home we then warm up with a hot chocolate, some Christmas treats (mince pies or for those of us that don’t eat mince pies.. jam tarts or chocolate log) and we pull out the Christmas boxes along with the Michael Bublé album. We then all wait very patiently whilst Daddy hunts for Christmas tree stand, which is an annual saga as it’s never in the place he thought he left it in!!

Finally out comes the tinsel which makes its way onto the tree in very large quantities, generally being thrown at the tree in random directions with squeals of delight.

The big dilemma of the grown-ups (well me in particular) is then whether or not to rearrange the tinsel on the tree once the children are asleep.. the methods of which have been discussed at great length, including moving it a little bit each evening so that it’s not noticeable…

What would you do..??

This is part of Artifact Motherhood – a collaboration of artists/mothers from around the world. Sharing stories of the joys and struggles of our journey. Our hopes and dreams for our children. With little nuggets of wisdom here and there. These are more than photographs with dates written on the back. These are the artefact we are leaving behind for children and the generations to come.
