Wiltshire Wedding Photographer
Natural, emotive wedding photography across Wiltshire
As a Wiltshire wedding photographer, I photograph weddings with a relaxed, unobtrusive approach, creating honest photographs that bring you back to the people, atmosphere and feeling of your day.
My work is rooted in documentary storytelling, with an editorial eye for beautiful light, composition and the small details that help tell the wider story. Rather than turning your wedding into a photoshoot, I want you to be able to experience it properly. To spend time with the people you have brought together, enjoy the celebration you have spent so long planning and trust that the story is being captured as it unfolds.
The result is a wedding gallery that feels natural, considered and completely personal to you. Photographs of the moments you expected alongside all the expressions, interactions and fleeting pieces of family history that happened in between.
I am based close to Bath, within easy reach of Wiltshire, and photograph weddings throughout the county and across the wider South West.
Documentary wedding photography that lets you enjoy your wedding
I believe the best wedding photographs come from giving people the space to be themselves. For most of the day, I work quietly in the background, watching what is happening rather than directing it. I am looking for relationships, expressions and the little threads that develop throughout a wedding day. It might be the person who keeps making everyone laugh. A parent quietly taking everything in. Children creating their own entertainment. Old friends falling immediately back into familiar patterns. Or somebody who hasn’t said very much all day but has had a mischievous glint in their eye since breakfast. These are often the photographs that become increasingly important with time. It also means you don’t need to perform for the camera. You can concentrate on your wedding and the people around you while I concentrate on telling its story.
Relaxed portraits without spending hours away from your guests
Relaxed portraits of the two of you. Beautiful couple portraits and a small selection of family group photographs can sit naturally alongside the candid documentary storytelling of your wedding day. Family group photographs are planned in advance and captured quickly and efficiently, so everyone can get back to the celebrations. We then sneak away quietly for some relaxed portraits of the two of you, usually taking around 10 to 15 minutes. There’s no need to perform for the camera. I’ll offer gentle guidance where it’s helpful, then simply photograph the two of you being yourselves, together.
For many couples, these few minutes become a lovely little pocket in the day. A chance to step away, take everything in and enjoy being married before rejoining your guests.
Weddings in Wiltshire
Wiltshire is a wonderful place for weddings because there is such a variety of settings within the county. Elegant country houses, private estates, historic buildings, gardens, barns and celebrations surrounded by open countryside all sit within relatively easy reach of one another.
I photograph weddings throughout Wiltshire, including around Chippenham, Castle Combe, Malmesbury, Corsham, Bradford on Avon, Devizes, Marlborough, Salisbury and the surrounding countryside.
Being based just over the Somerset border near Bath means much of Wiltshire is very familiar territory and within easy reach.
That local knowledge is useful on a wedding day, but I also love the variety Wiltshire offers. A wedding in the north of the county can have a very different character to a celebration further south around Salisbury, and I want the photographs to respond to the place rather than imposing the same formula on every wedding.
Wiltshire wedding venues
Wiltshire has some exceptional wedding venues, particularly for couples looking for beautiful country houses and private estates where the whole celebration can unfold in one place.
Venues such as Kin House, Euridge Manor, Syrencot, The Manor House at Castle Combe, Grittleton House and Bowood each offer something very different.
The design-led interiors and gardens of Kin House lend themselves to a very different kind of wedding from the romantic grounds and architecture of Euridge Manor. Syrencot combines a Georgian manor house with contemporary spaces and gardens, while Castle Combe provides one of Wiltshire’s most distinctive historic settings.
What interests me photographically isn’t simply having a beautiful backdrop. It is how people inhabit these spaces. Guests gathering outside in the evening light. Conversations happening in doorways. Children exploring the gardens. Everybody squeezed together on a dance floor later in the evening.
Wherever you choose to get married, the venue provides the setting. The people and what happens between them are what make the photographs yours.
Documentary wedding photography with an editorial eye
My approach is predominantly documentary, but I also bring an editorial eye to the way I photograph a wedding. That means paying attention to composition, layers, light, colour and the visual rhythm of the finished gallery while allowing real moments to remain real. I don’t want to manufacture emotion or repeatedly ask you to recreate something that has already happened. Instead, I look for beautiful ways of photographing what is genuinely unfolding in front of me.
When a little direction is useful, particularly during portraits, I will give it. For the rest of the day, I want you to be able to forget about the photography as much as possible. It is a balance between observation and artistry: natural, emotive storytelling photographed with care.
Wedding photographs that become part of your family history
There is an immediate excitement to receiving your wedding photographs, but I also think about what those photographs will mean much further into the future.
A wedding brings together people from different parts of your lives in a way that rarely happens again. Parents, grandparents, siblings, childhood friends and newer friendships are all in the same place for a few hours. That is why I photograph beyond the obvious milestones. The ceremony, confetti, speeches and first dance matter, of course but so do the conversations happening at the edge of the room, the way somebody looks at you when they think nobody is watching and the chaos unfolding on the dance floor. Over time, those photographs become more than a record of how everything looked. They become part of your family history.
An experienced Wiltshire wedding photographer
I have been photographing people and celebrations for many years, with an approach shaped by documentary photography and a fascination with human connection. Experience has taught me when to anticipate something before it happens, when a little guidance will help and, just as importantly, when to leave a moment completely alone.
Weddings are unpredictable. Timings change, weather changes, emotions run high and rooms don’t always have perfect light. Being able to respond calmly to those situations is an important part of the job. My role isn’t simply to make beautiful photographs. It is to make the photography feel easy for you while consistently creating a thoughtful record of the day.
My work has also been recognised by documentary photography organisations including This is Reportage: Family and the Family Photojournalist Association, and my photography has been featured by PhotoVogue.
What it’s like to have me photograph your wedding
I want the experience to feel calm for you, from the beginning. Before your wedding we will talk through the day, the people who matter to you and anything I need to know. I don’t need an enormous shot list because I know from experience what is important during a wedding and I will be actively looking for moments and details throughout the day, but knowing the relationships and elements of your day that are particularly important to you helps me understand your story.
On the day, I will offer guidance when you need it and disappear into the background when you don’t. You won’t spend your wedding wondering what you are supposed to be doing for photographs. You can simply be there. Laugh with your friends. Hug your parents. Have another glass of champagne. Dance badly. Talk to the people you haven’t seen for years. Your wedding should feel like a wedding, not a photoshoot. My job is to make sure you have the photographs that take you back there afterwards.

You don’t need to have every detail or your timeline completely finalised before getting in touch.
