Priston Mill Photos Wedding | Somerset Wedding Photography
As a Priston Mill wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of photographing this beautiful Somerset venue in all seasons — but there was something truly magical about this early November wedding at Priston Mill. Despite torrential rain soaking the countryside all week, the wedding day itself arrived bathed in warm sunshine and crisp autumn light, reminding everyone just how special late-season weddings can be.
From the calm morning preparations to an evening filled with joyful ceilidh dancing, this wedding was elegant, heartfelt, and wonderfully relaxed — the perfect inspiration for couples dreaming of a refined yet soulful celebration at Priston Mill.

Morning Preparations at Bath Mill Lodge Retreat
The day began just a short drive away at Bath Mill Lodge Retreat, where the couple had chosen two neighbouring lodges to get ready with their closest friends. This setup was ideal — private, peaceful, and surrounded by nature — allowing the morning to unfold slowly and intentionally.

Claire, the bride, spent the morning laughing with her friends as final touches were added, while Jack and his friends prepared nearby, enjoying a relaxed start to the day – exactly the kind of environment that allows for beautiful, natural wedding photography. The atmosphere was calm, joyful, and unhurried — although there was an interesting moment with a knife and a button hole, but it all worked out in the end! These sorts of incidents are wonderful for documentary wedding photography and provoke a smile when you look back at your day.

When it was time to leave, the wedding party travelled together to Priston Mill by mini bus, creating a lovely shared moment of anticipation and excitement. Claire followed behind in a car, giving her a quiet moment to reflect before arriving at the ceremony.

A Meaningful First Look at Priston Mill
Jack arrived at Priston Mill first, greeting guests as they began to arrive — a moment I always love photographing, as it sets the tone for the warmth of the day. When Claire arrived shortly after, the couple shared a private, deeply loving first look outside the Mill.

This moment was particularly special because Claire and Jack had chosen to walk down the aisle together, so seeing each other beforehand felt natural and meaningful rather than traditional. It allowed them to greet guests side-by-side, fully present and already grounded in the day together.

As guests slowly moved inside, Claire took a quick moment with close friends for final dress adjustments, while Jack waited patiently. Then, hand in hand, they were ready to begin the ceremony.
A Beautiful, Heartfelt Ceremony
The ceremony itself was intimate, emotional, and full of warmth — one of those moments where the atmosphere feels completely still and everyone in the room is truly present. Priston Mill’s rustic elegance provided the perfect backdrop: exposed beams, soft light, and an unmistakable sense of history.
Claire and Jack’s decision to walk into the ceremony together felt incredibly symbolic — a quiet statement of partnership that resonated throughout the room. There were smiles, laughter, and more than a few happy tears, making it a joy to photograph every fleeting expression and tender glance.

Confetti, Sunshine & Relaxed Couple Portraits
Following the ceremony, guests were invited outside into the sunshine for a joyful confetti aisle — one of my favourite moments of any wedding day. Confetti moments create such natural, candid photographs, filled with movement, laughter, and genuine emotion.
We then took a gentle wander around the grounds for relaxed couple portraits, making the most of Priston Mill’s stunning surroundings and the open field nearby. The autumn light was soft and flattering, and the couple were able to relax into having their photo taken in a natural way. Effortless and authentic portraits which were never forced, always true to who they are.
This is one of the reasons I love photographing weddings at Priston Mill: there is so much variety in such a compact space, perfect for couples who want elegant images without being away from their guests for long.

A Thoughtful Vegan Wedding Breakfast
Guests were welcomed back inside for a beautifully presented three-course vegan wedding breakfast, thoughtfully curated to reflect Claire and Jack’s beliefs. Priston Mill’s catering team delivered an exceptional dining experience, proving that plant-based menus can be every bit as luxurious, indulgent, and memorable.
The speeches were heartfelt and full of humour, setting a relaxed tone that carried seamlessly into the evening celebrations.
Cake Cutting & Ceilidh Dancing into the Night
As the light faded, Claire and Jack cut their stunning wedding cake by The Cake Architect, a true work of art and a perfect reflection of the day’s aesthetic.

The evening then came alive as a ceilidh band, Jiggerty took to the floor, expertly calling the dance moves and encouraging everyone — regardless of experience — to join in. The result was an evening full of laughter, movement, and connection, with guests of all ages dancing together.

It was the perfect ending to a day that balanced elegance with joy — a November wedding that will be remembered for years to come.
