Wedding Photography at Minerva Vines in Bath
Set in the countryside just outside Bath, Minerva Vines is one of the most exciting new wedding venues in the South West. As a documentary wedding photographer based just 16 minutes away, it is a venue I already know well, including how the light moves and how the day naturally flows here.
Having recently spent an afternoon and evening photographing at the venue, I have developed a strong understanding of how the light moves across the space and how each part of the setting naturally lends itself to different moments of a wedding day. That familiarity means I can work instinctively and unobtrusively, allowing you to stay present with your guests while everything is captured as it naturally unfolds.
If you are looking for a Minerva Vines wedding photographer, choosing someone who already knows the space can make a real difference to how relaxed and natural your experience feels.

A New Wedding Venue Near Bath
Minerva Vines offers something quite rare. A countryside setting that feels peaceful and expansive, yet still within easy reach of both Bath and Bristol.
As a dry hire venue, it gives you the freedom to shape the day entirely around you. From the styling and layout to the overall feel of the celebration, there is space here to create something that feels genuinely personal and considered.
This flexibility also makes it an ideal setting for planners and creative teams to bring a wedding vision together seamlessly, with the space to design something truly bespoke for each couple.
There is a sense of openness not just in the landscape, but in how a wedding can unfold. It does not feel prescriptive. Instead, it invites a more thoughtful kind of celebration, one that reflects you and the people around you.
With exciting plans ahead, including the addition of a new orangery, it is a venue that is only going to become even more special over time.
A First-Hand Understanding of Minerva Vines
My experience of the venue comes from photographing a styled shoot here.
While not a real wedding (as they haven’t launched weddings at the venue yet), it allowed me to observe how the environment responds in real conditions. From preparations through to more relaxed moments later in the day, it gave me the space to understand how everything connects.
This means that when it comes to photographing a real wedding at Minerva Vines, I am not figuring things out as I go. I already know how the space works and how to move within it without interrupting what is naturally happening.
Understanding the Light at Minerva Vines
Light plays a huge part in how your wedding is captured, and one of the most valuable things about spending time at a venue like this is learning how it behaves throughout the day.
The conditions during the shoot were bright at times, which offered the perfect opportunity to understand how to work comfortably in different lighting situations.
Throughout the day, I was able to explore:
- where softer, more flattering light naturally falls
- how outdoor spaces evolve as the day progresses
- how to adapt quickly when light becomes stronger or more directional
- which areas lend themselves best to different parts of the story
This kind of familiarity means I can focus fully on the moments themselves, rather than reacting to the environment.
A Documentary Approach with an Editorial Eye
My approach is always unobtrusive. I am there to observe, not interrupt.
Rather than directing or staging moments, I focus on what is already happening. The atmosphere, the interactions, the small details that make your day feel like your own.
The result is natural, emotive storytelling with an editorial eye, shaped by an instinct for light, composition and timing. Not something imposed, but something that quietly elevates what is already there.
Minerva Vines lends itself beautifully to this way of working. The space allows moments to unfold freely, making it ideal for couples who want to spend their day with their guests and truly experience it as it happens.

Local Knowledge and a Calm, Considered Approach
Being based just 16 minutes from Minerva Vines means I can offer more than just familiarity with the venue itself.
It means I can:
- visit ahead of your wedding if needed
- work easily within the flow and timings of your day
- adapt quickly if plans shift
- bring a calm, steady presence throughout
I have been photographing weddings for nearly a decade, with a consistent, unobtrusive approach that allows couples to feel at ease and able to forget the camera is there.
My work has been recognised by the Family Photojournalist Association and This is Reportage Family, and featured on Vogue Italia PhotoVogue.
